Today’s New York value is about contrasts.
Some days I love this city. The trains almost don’t suck, the weather seems normal for the month we’re in, and I’m making progress with clients/deals. Other days, like today, the trains are a mess, the weather is erratic, and everyone seems to be making insane demands or not getting back to me (SAY NO FEE TO ME AGAIN, I DARE YOU!). This is a city of high highs and low lows, emotionally, economically, and aesthetically.
Today was a low low, and as such I’d written a less-than-lovely New York Value. But I don’t have the heart to bring people down, so instead of all the depressing stuff I’ll focus on the fact that I went from crying to laughing within about 30 minutes because I was able to spend much needed time with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while, last minute, at a bar within walking distance of each of our gyms. In Virginia it isn’t as easy to coordinate short, much needed meet ups like this.
Your Real Estate Value this week is simple: No fee apartments are just not a thing in the summer, UNLESS you have a high budget and can go directly to a luxury building, or you want a second job looking through and frantically contacting listings. Please, for the love of God, stop asking me. I’m not going to do it for you; I wasted SO much time today on it before finally, officially realizing it’s just not worth it.
I promise I’ll be less cranky next week!
