This is a big month: I'm celebrating my one year Compass anniversary! I hit all my goals, including winning my first solo sales listing and closing more than twenty deals. I went to as many trainings and conferences as possible and met incredible agents who can help you in other markets (Aspen, anyone?). Most importantly, I got rave reviews or referrals from everyone I was fortunate enough to work with in 2018. All this bragging is really a huge THANK YOU for putting your faith in me during my first year! I've learned more than I could have imagined, and every day feel more equipped to help you, your friends, family, and colleagues with all real estate needs. I wouldn't be here without the opportunities you provided. This year will be even better, and I've hit the ground running. I can't wait to share what I've been working on and provide you with more valuable information in 2019. And, if you went to Andover, save March 27th for an upcoming alumni event!

What to expect in Williamsburg now that the L train isn't completely shutting down
|
This is one of the most common real estate questions I get: What do the L Shutdown and the last minute reversal mean for Williamsburg prices? It's hard to know for certain until the plans are finalized and people are actually living it, but Brick Underground has a pretty thorough write up here.

Google to Invest $1B in Hudson Square Campus
|
First Amazon, now Google -- the tech giant will invest $1B to open 1.7 million square feet of office space in Hudson Square. Doing so will allow the company to double its NYC workforce over the next 10 years. Read more about Google's plans to expand in this article by 6sqft, and let me know how excited you are for an even more competitive West Village market!

Today I’m writing something short and practical for all you renters out there, about your rights as a tenant if your landlord sells the building/apartment in which you live. It may also be helpful for anyone who owns and sublets/is considering renting out their place.

It’s winter, the holidays are over, and while I am personally very excited to get back to NYC and work, that sentiment isn’t shared by all of my peers. For those of you wishing you were on a beach somewhere and dreaming of owning your own business rather than working 9 to 5...

This may not seem super real estate oriented, but access to free health services is always good for a city (and home prices). NYC also offers housing for pregnant women and mothers who have lost their own. At a time of year when we focus on family and giving back...

I’m so grateful for 311 and wish we had it in Virginia. You can report issues like a lack of heat or hot water and they will reach out to the management company/landlord IMMEDIATELY to make sure it gets fixed within 48 hours. For less emergency situations, like mice, leaks, work without a permit, or a landlord...

Marketing Trends to Leave in 2018As we head into 2019 and I inch closer to my second year of real estate, I have some opinions on the marketing I’ve seen from agents in 2018. I try very hard not to annoy friends, colleagues, and clients with a deluge of unhelpful info, so this is a sensitive topic for me. But who knows, maybe you like getting spam!

This month I'm doing something a little different here. I've had relocation clients mention that they'd like a list of my recommendations around the city. I want to bring back Th Wkndr as a newsletter to highlight different neighborhoods specifically, but for now please enjoy Joe's list. Joe Quiros (seen below looking dapper as always) is one of my senior brokers and he has impeccable taste. The list itself is broken down into restaurants, bars, and activities. It isn't organized by location, but it should still give you plenty of ideas for how and where to spend your February!

AirBnB’s 2019 Must-Visit List:
|
For those of you outside of New York, or those lucky enough to leave the city during this dreary month, here is AirBnB's list of places one MUST visit in 2019. Let me know if you plan to go anywhere exciting; I won't be traveling internationally much this year, so please allow me to live vicariously through you! Check out the complete list of trendy destinations here.

Thank you again for a great first year!
